Joel Engardio was elected in November 2022 to represent District 4, promising transparency, safer streets, and real support for families, commuters, and small businesses. But since taking office, he’s broken every one of those promises.

Rather than standing with the voters who elected him, Joel has aligned himself with Scott Wiener’s YIMBY agenda—backed by tech billionaires and real estate developers—focused on rezoning our neighborhoods for luxury high-rises. Proposition K, which permanently closed the Great Highway, was pushed by Joel despite Sunset voters rejecting it by a wide margin—and funded almost entirely by YIMBY donors with no ties to the Westside.

It’s a clear pattern: silence the community, ignore the vote, and follow the money.

Joel was elected to protect the Westside—not to turn it into a playground for developers and political insiders. Voters trusted him. He broke that trust.

The consequences are already here: traffic is worse, streets are more dangerous, and residents feel ignored. Joel has failed to address crime, dirty streets, small business struggles, or the needs of seniors. And while he poses for photo ops at night markets, his policies are reshaping our neighborhoods without our consent.

If left unchecked, his agenda will transform the Sunset—replacing family homes and neighborhood streets with traffic jams, dangerous roads, and luxury towers no one asked for.
